'08 Cross Country Preview:  Here this week!

'08 Outdoor Girls Track & Field Review:

The 2008 PGHS Girls Track & Field team produced a very good season by placing 4th in Region IV and 22nd in AAAAA State.  Sophomore Autumn Robertson place 8th in state in the HJ to score the Lady Viking points.  This was the highest placing for the PGHS girls team in Region IV, and the highest since for Pleasant Grove since 2004 (3rd).  Athletes of the Year went to:  Robertson (Field Events) and Sophomore Julie Mazeika (Track Events).  The Lady Vikings qualified 8 girls in 8 events to the State Meet, including all three relays.  Many personal and seasonal bests were set at the Region and State Championships.  Two Lady Vikings (Robertson and Haley Eldredge) earned "All-American" awards for their accomplishments in Speed Strength and Conditioning.  All-Region awards went to:  Robertson, Mazeika, Eldredge, Erica Porter, Jentry Morton, Mekell Craft, Jamie Harmon, Hayley Stembridge, Ali DeWolf, and Jessi Baird.

'08 Indoor Track & Field Review (3/09/08):

The 2008 Indoor Season was a huge success for the Mighty Vikings, as they earned 12 Simplot Games medals, put both teams in the top 10 at the indoor state championships (6th for both squads), were featured on a national television broadcast, and had numerous individual honors through the five indoor competitions, including three school records.

For the boys, Scott Matheson (HJ), Levi Williams (HH & HJ), Donovan Guerrero (200m), and the relay team of Guerrero, Anthony Guerrero, Nate Porter, and Jeff Harris all took All-State honors at the State Indoor Championships.  For the Lady Vikings, Jentry Morton (HJ), Autumn Robertson (HJ & 4 x 322m Relay), Jamie Harmon (Relay), Erica Porter (Relay), and Haley Eldredge (Relay) earned the high honors.  At the annual Bob Rasmussen Relays, Donovan won the MVP award, with Levi Williams, Erica Porter, and Haley Eldredge placing high individually.  The school records came to Erica Porter in the 60mH, Levi Williams in the 60mH, and Donovan Guerrero in the 60m Dash.

At the Simplot Games, the Girls 4 x 400m and Medley Relays ran in the top 5 ranked teams in the state of Utah, and the boys earned medals from the HJ (Scott Matheson), Mile (Darren Gleason), 4 x 400m (Donovan Guerrero, Levi Williams, Darren Gleason, and Nate Porter), and the Medley Relay of Donovan, Anthony Guerrero, Scott Matheson, Levi Williams, and Darren Gleason.  All their times were PR's as well as ranked amongst the top marks for boys and girls teams in Utah.  Coaches Stig Robertson and John Kernan also competed in the coaches division in the 200m, bringing home medals.  All in all, an excellent season for the Mighty Vikings!
